The Rankings
3rd thru 8th Grade teams have the ability to achieve points through selected AAU Licensed events. Points are based on a total percentage of 100% with three different stages of events a team can gain points. Each level has been assigned a percentage that is then added to the final point total to calculate the total. Teams are able to earn more points depending on the division of the event assigned by the host (DI DII or DIII). Here are the levels

AAU Select EventsAn AAU Select Event is one that is a local event and would be categorized as an invitational or any other event designated by the District Sports Director. Select Events are 25% of a team's total points.
AAU Premier Events
An AAU Premier Event are events with a larger following that can draw teams from outside of the district. District Championships are the only events that are listed as Premier exclusively for the District. These events include several Super Regional events, and others as designated by the AAU Boys Basketball Committee. Premier Events are 35% of a team's total points
The World Championships All of the World Championships events are 40% of a team's total points

How is an event selected?
Select Events would have to have the recommendation of the District Sports Director (DSD) in order to be considered. After receiving the endorsement of the DSD, the event will be stamped with the Select Event stamp and placed on the rankings website. All events that are selected are required to use tournament select for all team rosters.
Premier Events are those that are selected by the AAU National Basketball Staff on behalf of the Boys and Girls Basketball Executive Committee. Event Operators would submit their application for their event to be licensed as a premier event. How are the Regions Divided?
There will be four (4) regions that feed into the national rankings. Teams can be ranked regionally and nationally. The four regions and the state breakdown are as follows

How Team Points are Calculated
Teams will all earn the same amount of points no matter the event. The points breakdown are as follows
10 Points 1st Place
8 Points 2nd Place
6 Points 3rd
4 Points 4th
2 Points All other participating teams
The difference is the percentage points a team will earn for the event. Select Events are 25%, Premier Events are 35% and the Championship is 40%
